Concepts – Place Value
In our decimal number system, the value of a digit depends on its place, or position in the number. Each place has a value of 10 times the place to its right.
Rules
Read the number from left to right.
In reading, writing and comparing large numbers, group place values into periods ‘ones’, ‘tens’, ‘hundred’, ‘thousand’, ‘10 thousand’, ‘100 thousand’, ‘million’, ’10 million’, ‘100 million’, ‘billion’, ’10 billion’, ‘100 billion’, ‘trillion’, etc.
Every 3 periods are separated by a comma.

Comparing numbers uses <, =, and > signs.
When two values are equal, use the "equals" sign (=).
When the first value is smaller than the other, use a "less than" sign. (<)
When the first value is bigger than another, use a "greater than" sign. (>)
