Concept

In statistics the range is an estimation of the spread of the data. It  is the difference between the lowest and highest values.

Rule

To find the range:
1. Order the numbers from the least to the greatest.
2. Subtract the lowest number from the greatest number. This is the range.

Example

Find the range.

23, 35, 33, 28, 17, 38, 35, 41, 28 

Solution

1. Order the numbers from the least to the greatest.
    17, 23, 28, 28, 33, 35, 35, 38, 41

2. Subtract the lowest number from the greatest number.
