Vocabulary
Mixed Number - a combination of a whole number and a fraction.
Unlike Fractions – fractions with denominators that are different.
Proper Fraction - a fraction that is less than one, with the numerator less than denominator.
Numerator - the number above the line in a common fraction showing how many of the parts indicated by the denominator there are.
Denominator - the bottom number in a fraction that shows the number of equal parts an item is divided into. It is the divisor of a fraction.
Commutative Property of Addition - numbers can be added in any order and you will still get the same answer. a + b = b + a
Associative Property of Addition - you can add or multiply regardless of how the numbers are grouped.

Select the number equivalent to the given number.

Solution
Write an equivalent mixed number by simplifying the improper fraction. Take the whole number portion and add it to the fraction part.
-1118 = -1 + (-138) = -238
1198 = -1 + (-238) = -338
Answer: -1118
