2 Times table
Concept
Table of 2 is a basic table and is very easy to recite and learn. It is important for students to learn 2 times table. It makes mental arithmetic easier. Learning table of 2 promotes a better understanding of number and number relationships. These skills are crucial for understanding complex maths problems with confidence.
Multiplication Table of 2
You can view multiplication as telling you how many groups of something you have. So, when you have multiplication of 2, you will have two groups of something. For example, 2 x 8 tells you that you have two groups of 8. To find the answer, you add your groups together. So, 2 x 8 turns into 8 + 8, which turns into 16. So, 2 x 8 is equal to 16.

Tips for 2 Times Table
1. 2 times table follows the pattern of even numbers only. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 . . . .
2. To memorize 2 times table, we can take help from 1 times table. We add all the natural numbers from 1 to 10 to the multiple of 1 times table. For example:
1 × 1 + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2 (multiple of 2)
1 × 2 + 2 = 2 + 2 = 4 (multiple of 2)
1 × 3 + 3 = 3 + 3 = 6 (multiple of 2)
1 × 4 + 4 = 4 + 4 = 8 (multiple of 2)
1 × 5 + 5 = 5 + 5 = 10 (multiple of 2) and so on.
Rules
1. When a number is multiplied by 2, the answer is twice or double the number.
2. To double means to add a number to itself.
Basic things to observe in the table of 2 are:
Table of 2 follows the pattern of 2, 4, 6, 8, 0 at one’s digit place.
It always has even numbers.
It is easier because it can be learned with the help of skip counting as 2, 4, 6, 8 . . . and so on.
Example
Multiply.
2 x 6
