Shape Patterns

Shape Patterns

Concept

The study of mathematics includes numbers and the different patterns in which they are listed. There are different types of patterns in mathematics, such as number patterns, image patterns, logic patterns, word patterns, and so on.

Shape patterns occur when a group of shapes are repeated. These patterns follow a certain sequence or order of shapes, i.e., they are repeated at least two times. The shapes can be simple shapes like circles, squares, rectangle, triangle or other objects such as arrows, flowers, moons, and stars.

Rules

1. Observe the pattern.
2. Identify which shapes are being repeated or follow a certain sequence or order.
3. Continue the pattern using the same sequence or order.

Example

Which shape will come next?

Solution

In this pattern, a yellow rectangle appears after each red triangle. To continue the pattern a red triangle will come next.
